🔧 Trouble Accessing Your Student Email? Here's What to Do

Over the summer, Imperial Valley College made important updates to student email accounts behind the scenes. These changes are part of a broader effort to enhance email functionality and pave the way for more improvements over the coming year.

We understand this transition may have caused some disruption, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. Our goal is to help you regain full access to your email account as quickly as possible.


✅ Step 1: Check Your Email Address

If you're using a Microsoft app (such as Outlook, Teams, or OneDrive), confirm which email address you're signed in with.

  • If you see: yourname@students.imperial.edu
    👉 You're good to go — no further action is needed.
    ✅ You can close this guide.
  • If you see: yourname@studentsimperial.onmicrosoft.com
    🚫 You’ll need to follow the steps below to fix your account setup.

📱 Step 2: Fixing Email Access on Mobile Devices

Method 1: Quick Reset (Recommended)

  1. Uninstall all Microsoft apps (Outlook, OneDrive, Teams, etc.) from your mobile device.
  2. Reinstall the apps from the App Store or Google Play.
  3. Sign in again using your correct email: yourname@students.imperial.edu.

This will re-establish the correct login and sync your emails, calendar, and contacts.


Method 2: Manual Account Fix

If Method 1 doesn’t resolve the issue and you're still logged in as @studentsimperial.onmicrosoft.com, try this:

  1. Open the Microsoft app and look for "Add Account."
  2. Enter your correct email: yourname@students.imperial.edu.
  3. If you receive an "Account Already Exists" error:
    • Tap Back.
    • Select "Add Account Manually".
  4. Choose "Microsoft 365" when prompted for account type.
  5. Verify that the correct email address is displayed on the password screen.
  6. Enter your password and complete the Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) setup if prompted.
