Canvas Alternative Login (students)

During the scheduled outage of Friday, March 17, 5:00 PM to March 18, 10:00 PM, students will not have access to Canvas using our regular login.

If you need to login to Canvas during the scheduled outage, you may do so by using the alternative login instructions outlined below.

Important things to consider:

  • You will only have access to this alternate login from March 17 to March 18. After March 18, you will access Canvas using our regular login.
  • Many instructors have adjusted their due dates so that students will not have to access Canvas during the outage. If you are not sure if you need to access Canvas during the outage, contact your instructor.   
  • Canvas app will still be available and no alternative login is needed. (See more details about the Canvas app below.)

Alternative Login Instructions

  1. Go to the direct Canvas login page (click the link)
  2. Username: Type your complete student email address
  3. Password: Type in your 8-digit birthdate
  4. Select “Login”

This alternative login will only be available during the scheduled outage. To ensure a secure learning environment the College reserves the right to remove access to this alternative authentication method at any time, so it should NOT be used as the primary access point to the Canvas environment.

Access to this alternative Canvas environment will be monitored. Any inappropriate use of Canvas during the outage period will be reported to the Dean of Student Affairs for disciplinary action based on Imperial Valley College’s Student Conduct Policy.
