How to Clear Your Browser Cache

Overview

This guide explains how to clear the cache on popular browsers like Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari on both desktop and mobile. Clearing the cache can resolve issues with outdated content or website errors. It only removes temporary files and cached images, without affecting saved passwords or browsing history unless you choose to delete those as well.

  • Desktop

    • Open Chrome and click on the three-dot menu in the upper-right corner.
    • Select More tools > Clear browsing data.
    • In the pop-up window, choose a Time range (e.g., Last hour, Last 24 hours, All time).
    • Check Cached images and files (you may also choose other data to clear).
    • Click Clear data.
  • Mobile

    • Open Chrome and tap the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.
    • Go to History > Clear browsing data.
    • Select the Time range and ensure Cached images and files is checked.
    • Tap Clear data.

  • Desktop

    • Click the three-dot menu in the upper-right corner.
    • Select Settings > Privacy, search, and services.
    • Under Clear browsing data, click Choose what to clear.
    • Choose a Time range, check Cached images and files, and click Clear now.

    • Tap the three-dot menu in the bottom-right corner.
    • Go to Settings > Privacy and Security.
    • Tap Clear browsing data, check Cached images and files, and tap Clear data.

    • Select Settings > Privacy & Security.
    • Scroll down to the Cookies and Site Data section.
    • Click Clear Data, then check Temporary cached files and pages.

    • Tap the three-line menu at the bottom right (iOS) or top right (Android).
    • Select Settings.
    • Scroll to Clear Private Data.
    • Ensure Cache is checked, then tap Clear Data.

    • Open Safari, then go to Safari in the top menu and select Preferences.
    • Click the Privacy tab.
    • Click Manage Website Data, then choose Remove All to clear the cache.
