π§ Trouble Accessing Your Student Email? Here's What to Do
Over the summer, Imperial Valley College made important updates to student email accounts behind the scenes. These changes are part of a broader effort to enhance email functionality and pave the way for more improvements over the coming year.
We understand this transition may have caused some disruption, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. Our goal is to help you regain full access to your email account as quickly as possible. We will be updating this article with updated methods as new easy methods become available. Step 1: Check Your Email Address
If you're using a Microsoft app (such as Outlook, Teams, or OneDrive), confirm which email address you're signed in with.
- If you see: yourname@students.imperial.edu
π You're good to go β no further action is needed.

π± Step 2: Fixing Email Access on Mobile Devices
Method 1: Quick Reset (Recommended)
- Uninstall all Microsoft apps (Outlook, OneDrive, Teams, etc.) from your mobile device.
- Reinstall the apps from the App Store or Google Play.
- Sign in again using your correct email: yourname@students.imperial.edu.
This will re-establish the correct login and sync your emails, calendar, and contacts.
Method 2: Manual Account Fix
If Method 1 doesnβt resolve the issue and you're still logged in as @studentsimperial.onmicrosoft.com, try this:
- Open any Microsoft app and look for "Add Account."
- Enter your correct email: yourname@students.imperial.edu.
- If you receive an "Account Already Exists" error:
- Tap Back.
- Select "Add Account Manually".
- Choose "Microsoft 365" when prompted for account type.
- Verify that the correct email address is displayed on the password screen.
- Enter your password and complete the Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) setup if prompted.
Method 3: Reset Through OneDrive
If the previous methods donβt work, try this alternate approach:
- While logged in as yourname@studentsimperial.onmicrosoft.com, go to Settings (usually found at the bottom right).
- Scroll down to Accounts, then tap Add Account.
- Tap OneDrive and sign in using your correct student email.
If prompted, download the Microsoft Authenticator app to complete the login.
- After signing in, go back to Accounts, select the incorrect email account, and tap Remove at the bottom.
- Now, add your student account again: yourname@students.imperial.edu. It should now connect successfully.
